I met up with my friend Liz and her children today at Bluewater and noticed that there was some filming going on. Ever curious, we snuck up and saw that Gok Wan was filming “How To Look Good Naked”. Well, ever the photographers, we grabbed our cameras and (with permission), snapped away!

Just putting the finishing touches to some client products …

Client products ready and waiting to go ...

sent me a sample canvas. I took this shot at Whitstable on the Kent coast recently. I wanted to post a composite image to show the quality and durability of these canvases:

They are made with thick wooden struts at the back which measure just under 2 inches thick. They really are built to last. These will certainly be on my list of products to offer my clients … and I may just have to order a couple for myself!

I visited my great friend Laura, her husband John and their two gorgeous girls, Tara and Rosie, in Southampton. Despite the extra-long journey (roadworks …), and the weather (sun, showers, sun, showers …), I had the best time.

Poor Rosie got quite poorly sick after having an adventure in a pond which ended up in a very late night (or rather, early morning) visit to the emergency vet but hopefully she will be on the mend very soon. This is Rosie …

And this is Tara …

Tara

We went into Hythe and had a drink at the Salt Bar by the marina and then went into the town itself for a curry. All very nice indeed. Unfortunately John and Laura then had to take Rosie to the emergency vet in the early hours of Saturday morning.

However, we went with Tara for a long walk along the beach opposite the Isle of Wight. The weather was absolutely wonderful …

I do hope that Rosie is well on the road to recovery. Thank you again to Laura and John for making me feel so incredibly welcome and I hope to visit again soon.

Belle and I decided to go to Oare Country Park today – the weather was grey and overcast (not at all like yesterday …) and I wanted to try out a few lighting techniques when the sun isn’t shining.

Belle-in-snowdrops

The snowdrops are still lovely but we can’t wait for the bluebells …

Despite the overcast skies, reflectors are a wonderful thing – we went for gold to inject a little bit of colour to these cold winter skies …

Belle portrait

There are lots of buildings around the park, telling the history of the Gunpowder Works. And lots of walls …

Belle

Belle is going to be “bridesmaid” at the promotional shoot next week … but will she wear her VANS? That’s for her to decide!

Bridesmaid ... VANS ... and attitude ...

Spring is nearly here in the UK … at least, the sun shone today and it felt pleasantly warm. I haven’t blogged for a little while – I have so many projects in my head at the moment and am getting a regular stream of wedding photography queries – it just feels great.

However, my latest project is to build a portfolio for a local restaurant Olivier @ Faversham Bistrot. I have worked with Olivier before, taking photographs of his menu for a recipe book. Now the Bistrot is licensed for weddings and we are putting together a portfolio.

I decided to get some practice in today in the beautiful weather …

We are shooting at the restaurant next week … weather permitting. I’ve got my fingers crossed for good weather again!

What a colourful party! So many beautifully dressed young people and such great entertainment … just a few sneak peek pictures below from Scarlett’s fourth birthday party …

The signs were out, guiding the princesses and knights to the party …

The birthday princess was waiting … but just a couple of photos first …

The wait was almost unbearable …

Waiting ...

But soon everyone was enjoying the party …

The conga line ...

Thank you to Princess S’s parents for being so hospitable on the day – I thoroughly enjoyed myself and hope that all the princesses and knights did too!

Our godson was christened on Sunday in a lovely, family service. So well behaved, even though he did get quite a soaking!

We spent a great afternoon with family and friends celebrating … whilst he slept …

He is just such a lovely mannered boy and we are all looking forward to sharing with him as he grows and prospers …

James

Much love from your proud godparents …

We also had great fun putting together some photographs so that we can make a book for James to keep for the future.  Thanks to everyone who joined in and made it so enjoyable!

Kay_Hanley_unusual_birthday_cards

My very talented colleague, Kay Hanley, has been supplying us all with hand-made unique birthday and Christmas cards for several years.  Her profits are donated to Cancer Research and she can accommodate the most unusual requests!

Kay has now decided to branch out into more funky and unusual greetings cards – the shoes above are actually a “card” which Kay was commissioned to make – they were just so beautiful and different that I just had to get a picture – and I thought that I would promote them here … just in case!

The birthday wishes are written on the sole of the shoe – and I am sure that this particular pair will be treasured!

And I’ve just heard that Kay has also made some in leopard skin print …

Kay’s contact details are below, just in case you fancy ordering some unique and individual cards with a real personal touch: kay.hanley@tiscali.co.uk.
