Sometimes you have a good weekend …

and sometimes you have a great weekend!

I had the chance to photograph three week old baby Seth who is the new grandson to my neighbour. Such an amazing shock of hair and such a good baby. After some initial shyness in having his picture taken, Seth settled down for a nap on a sheepskin rug …

Then he snoozed away on a blanket (knitted by my mum – thanks again!) …

And then he cozied up with dad …

And he looked pretty cozy with mum too …

Thanks again for giving me the wonderful opportunity to meet Seth and also to Sydney, his big sister, for joining in too.  And I hope one day to be able to photograph Seth with his eyes open!!!

Engagement rings …

My ever-patient work colleague has the most beautiful engagement ring and recently received flowers, so really that was the best combination (for me, anyway)!

Just love the colours of the gerberas and how they are reflected in the stones in the ring.

Everyone seems to like the red best, but I love the pink too. What do you think?

I do hope you like what you see!  See below for a couple of tasters …

Abseiling for charity … no, not me!

My company is supporting Orbis International with various charity fundraisers throughout our financial year. Last Friday (yep, during the wet and windy weather …), members of staff abseiled down the side of our building on Holborn Viaduct, from 11th floor, down to pavement level.

There were abseilers in fancy dress: robbers and olympic sportsmen and women. And a couple of the partners went down blindfold. I photographed some of the abseilers (who needed proof that they had done the deed) and wanted to mention Raphy: I think she has to go down as the bravest person … I think it would be safe to say that she was TERRIFIED .. but she continued and abseiled to the bottom. I couldn’t do it … could you?

Raphy is in the middle of the pic.  She is still smiling because this was taken beforehand.  Congratulations have to go to all the members of staff who took part.

And no, I’m not doing it next year!

The power of the blog …

I’m just coming to grips with the fact that blogs can break down international barriers and connect people who would never meet under “normal” circumstances.

I found a fellow photographer’s blog (she is in the US), read her posts with interest and then joined in a competition. I was amazed to receive an email letting me know that I had won and this morning my prize arrived, all thanks to 5 foot 4 geek! I will update this post with photos later: it is a gorgeous pouch, which I am going to put into immediate use, and was filled with things to use in scrapbooking, or other creative inventions. My sister is quite an arty, creative person, so I am going to get her thinking about what to make too! So thanks again … and all power to blogging!
