{Golden Wedding Anniversary} celebration

I’d like to congratulate my parents as they celebrate fifty years of marriage! They came for lunch at Reads in Faversham, along with my sister and her husband, and my gorgeous niece.

The food, of course, was excellent and I had ordered a cake from Delicakes (Delicakes website) which had been hand-decorated by Janet and tasted … well gorgeous …

Mum and dad reminisced about how they first met … and I asked mum if it was OK to photograph her original wedding ring … the date was engraved on the inside and the outside shows the remnants of the apple blossom design … fifty years …

Congratulations again to my parents … if it wasn’t for you, my sister and I wouldn’t be here and I thank you both from the bottom of my heart for that. Love you xxx

Beautiful vintage inspired products by {Red Ric Rac}

Rachel is an actress and that’s how we met … she was referred to me by a recent (and satisfied) client as she needed some promotional photographs. However, she is also the brains and inspiration behind Red Ric Rac (www.red-ric-rac.co.uk and makes gorgeous bits and pieces to brighten up your home and wardrobe. They are all lovingly handmade from vintage and vintage inspired fabrics and trims … what was also such a bonus was that Rachel’s own styling at home made it impossible for me not to ask to photograph a selection of her wonderful products …

As Rachel herself explains “Red-Ric-Rac was created from my love of 1940s make-do-and-mend mentality, my Vintage clothing and fabrics collection and my career as a Costume designer/maker for the Theatre.

I wanted to create beautiful, individual accessories from the gorgeous fabrics I had collected over the years. Each piece is lovingly handmade on the Kent coast and is unique to the next, so no two items are the same!”

Take a look …

Rachel is based in Faversham and will shortly be offering on-line sales. Her work is unique and is the best example of practical recycling that I have seen in a long time!

I have a feeling that I may well be photographing Rachel, and her products, again!

{A-Z Driving} photoshoot

It’s great being a full-time photographer … one day I am shooting a Rock the Frock session in Canterbury in the rain and the next I am photographing Pete from A-Z Driving on a glorious sunny morning near Herne Bay.

Pete is a driving instructor who also offers “Pass Plus”. He covers Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable and he is contactable by calling 0800 118 52 50 or emailing info@a-zdriving.co.uk. Pete’s website is currently under construction (hence the photoshoot), but I think that you can guarantee an informative and cheerful driving instructor, who has a rather unusual assistant …

Pete’s website is A-Z Driving so please do have a look when the site is up and running! He also offers gift vouchers (which he assures me are smaller that the one in the picture below …)

And just to show you quite how sunny it was, here’s Bagpuss …

{Rocking the Frock} in Canterbury

with the help of two great models, Ben and Lucy and a great make-up artist, Emily. Here’s the proof in the pictures despite being a cold and rainy day, I thoroughly enjoyed the shoot. It was really just to give an example of what you can do after your wedding (and before you get the dress cleaned …).

There’s lots of graffiti …

which actually converts well to black and white …

And when it’s this cold, the only way to keep warm … is to JUMP

Thanks again to everyone involved and if you are interested in rocking your frock, just drop me a line!

{Fun birthday party photoshoot}

What a great way to celebrate a birthday. Invite all your friends round, get them to bring a couple of different outfits and book Samantha Jones Photography to have a photoshoot!

It’s such a great way to entertain the girls … something different and fun at the same time! We had lots of jumping, changes of outfits, crazy makeup, serious portraits (something for the parents …) and lots and lots of laughing … take a look!

And then finally, a group shot, together with their favourite teddy bears …

No need to go to a studio, it’s all in the comfort of your own home enabling you to keep the costs down. Each guest receives one 10″ x 8″ print of their choice from a secure online gallery and the hostess receives a 26 page photobook, filled with images of their choice! Photo parties last around two hours and are priced at £175. Contact me to discuss booking your party today!

{Fun} family session

Wow, it’s been busy … for everyone, it would seem! I had a fun session on Sunday morning with a family who won one of my portrait vouchers in a raffle way back in November 2009 and we had only just managed to arrange a date that we all could make.

Unfortunately the weather wasn’t sunny enough for a stroll in the park so we used the home studio setup … here are a few quick teasers …

I try to use natural light in some of the portraits and I really like the directness of his gaze in this shot …

And those dimples … the online gallery will be available shortly and I am so glad that we managed to finally schedule a date in our diaries!

{Pines Calyx} – beautiful wedding venue in St Margaret’s Bay, near Dover

What a wonderful way to spend time … chatting to Lisa, the wedding co-ordinator about weddings at Pines Calyx (www.pinescalyx.co.uk) and then strolling around the grounds on a wonderfully sunny day. Pines Calyx are having a Wedding Open Day on 21 March 2010 from 11am until 4pm – it is free entry and you too can enjoy the fresh, healthy coastal air … and here are some images to whet your appetites:

The reception and ceremony rooms are light are airy …

and there is plenty of outside space to have your welcome drinks. The eco friendly building is set amongst six acres of landscaped gardens, including a lake (which is frozen at the moment!) and a view across to the White Cliffs of Dover …

So, if by chance you are getting married at Pines Calyx, do get in touch … I am looking forward to shooting my first wedding there!
