Red roses, a blue handkerchief, Cole Porter and a bit of magic … how else to sum up Kathryn and Mike’s celebrations yesterday. Although their actual wedding isn’t until mid-November in the States, Kathryn and Mike joined with family and friends yesterday to make a public declaration to each other. I was delighted to be asked to photograph their day, from the girlie giggles and champagne to start, to the words of Cole Porter from Mike to Kathryn, to fabulous family and friends, a wonderful page boy and bridesmaid to the most amazing meal I have ever had at a wedding!
As Kathryn and Mike will soon be off to the States on a whirlwind tour, I just wanted to post a quick sneak peek of their day …
Kathryn was ably assisted in her preparations by her good friends Olwen Shaw (www.olwenshawstyle.co.uk) and Barbara Rogers, and we sped through the gorgeous Kentish countryside to Faversham where Mike was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his bride.
After an exchange of a ring and beautiful words, Kathryn and Mike stepped outside for a few photographs.
Drizzle was threatening but the fires were lit and the atmosphere was warm. All too soon it was time to step inside and enjoy our meal … I was defeated by the chocolate pot! The catering was by Carrington Catering (contact Dominic on 07782 299768). Throughly recommended.
Kathryn and Mike hadn’t been allowed to see the room and were delighted by the beautiful decorations. Of course, with Kathryn being a florist (www.kathryngoddard.com), there were flowers everywhere! The cakes (both cheese and a fruit one) were a total surprise too! With Mike being a magician, he had to pull a rabbit out of a top hat decorated with cards before finding the cakes hidden below.
Congratulations to you both and looking forward to hearing more about your US adventures!
And to finish with a picture of the most wonderful wedding gift …

It’s not quite the end of the wedding season here at Samantha Jones Photography (although I am not sure if weddings really fit into any one particular season any more!).
I’m attending my final wedding fair for this year … I’ve been to a few: Hadlow Manor, near Tonbridge; Mount Ephraim, near Faversham; Hamlets Hotel in Larkfield; Leeds Castle Wedding Show at Leeds Castle, Dover College Wedding Show … and the final one is at the gorgeous eco-friendly resort of The Pines Calyx (www.pinescalyx.co.uk). I was there in March of this year at their wedding open day and am delighted to be returning this Sunday, 30 October (remember, the clocks go back!).
I photographed Elaine and Roger’s celebrations there earlier this year (Elaine and Roger on the blog) and am pleased to be returning there next year for Yvette and Tim’s celebrations and, hopefully, many more.
If you have met me at a previous wedding fair and we maybe didn’t have time to chat properly and you fancy the idea of enjoying the wonderful grounds at Pines Calyx and checking through my albums and wedding photography packages in the peace and quiet of the roundels, then do join me and other enthusiastic recommended wedding suppliers this Sunday. I’m hoping for the weather to be as glorious as it was for Elaine and Roger!

to all the lovely brides and grooms who took the time to come and visit my little stand at the Leeds Castle Wedding Show and for signing up for my special offer. I’ll be contacting you all over the next few days to book some consultations if you want to chat more about your weddings. I’m always delighted to hear about your plans and dreams and hope to become part of your wedding team!
If you missed the opportunity to visit my stand, please do comment below and I can send through details of the special offer … it’s a very tempting one indeed!
I hope that you all found the show an inspiration and enjoyed the catwalk show – I popped in briefly and saw the men in action and some gorgeous wedding gowns too.
Thanks again for everyone involved in the show and I’m planning for next year already!

Charlotte and Rhys were married in Cyprus … where the weather was a sunny 35 degrees. Sadly, that wasn’t quite the case yesterday when they, and 200 guests, joined them to celebrate their wedding in true East Quay style. When I arrived, the bride and groom and their team of helpers were putting the final touches to the venue and putting together a sweet trolley for their guests and a buffet. Oh the food! The tables were truly groaning!
Charlotte and Rhys popped off to get changed … but sadly by the time they returned, darkness had fallen and a drizzle had started. Which actually led to a couple of my favourite shots of the wedding season (although there have been many favourite shots!) …
You can see the rain … which made Charlotte a bit concerned about losing her curls so we went back inside. The guests started to arrive and I had the chance to stroll around, taking candid shots. I must say, there was a lot of laughter going on last night!
But of course, we had to get a shot of the bride and her bridesmaids … who are all her sisters!
The second shot was upstairs in the photobooth which I had set up … and which seemed to be very popular indeed!
Of course, we had to get the newly married couple to pose for a few shots too.
And then, all too soon, it was time for the speeches, the first dance and the cutting of cake (which had rainbow colours inside it) and for me to pack up the photobooth and make my way home. I had a great time, and it looked like the party would be going on long into the night … congratulations to you both and I hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as I did!

I am delighted that I am now one of the preferred suppliers at Stonelees Golf Club in Thanet (www.stonelees.com). Stonelees are newly licensed as a wedding ceremony venue so I popped down for a chat with their wedding co-ordinator, Chelsea, this week. With such stunning weather, I just had to take some photographs. Stonelees is undergoing some development on site but the grounds (as one would expect for a golf club) are perfectly manicured!
The gardens are being redeveloped for outdoors ceremonies and the facilities hold up to 100 guests. If you are looking for a wedding venue for 2012, please do contact Chelsea as diary dates are filling up fast. And don’t forget to tell her that I sent you!
I’m very much looking forward to photography weddings at Stonelees, especially outdoor ones!
