Cupcake-tastic … cheeky sneak peek of Charlotte’s cake smash

Charlotte has just turned one. She is so smiley and cheeky and just gorgeous. And she likes cake … especially one that mum Tina has made with creamy icing and vanilla flavouring (mmm, my favourite).

So we set up a back drop and used the lovely wood floor already in the house and watched Charlotte play with balloons and bubbles and demolish her cake …

Blowing my own trumpet … or having someone else blow it for me …

I photographed Hayley and Dominic’s wedding back in February of this year at the lovely Winters Barns. Subsequently, Hayley and Dominic entered, and have been voted through to, the final round of the Your Kent Wedding wedding of the Year. I’m delighted to see that they wrote some incredibly kind and generous words about their photographer …

For any supplier to be so publicly thanked is wonderful. And I can only thank Hayley and Dominic in return for being such fabulous clients. I’m keeping everything crossed for them in the competition … and also for another couple of mine, Sara and Steve who are in the next round. I’m incredibly proud of all of you and have enjoyed every moment.

It’s been a great year so far!

Passionate about Vintage … beautiful vintage jewellery and other items …

I have undertaken a number of photoshoots with the lovely Natalie, owner of Passionate about Vintage and I was delighted to hear that her adventures continue – not only does she have a thriving online shop but now she has ventured into bricks and mortar, having opened a boutique in quirky West Hampstead, north London (more details about the shop are here). You can also find a link to her online shop through the website www.passionateaboutvintage.co.uk just in case you aren’t able to visit in person.

And there are some beautiful items … absolutely beautiful!

Photographing vintage jewellery is challenging – the maker’s marks are often in hard to reach places and are sometimes tiny. Also, the condition of the piece needs to be accurately recorded.

And this gorgeous little elephant was taking pride of place in the West Hampstead boutique window …

And it’s not all just about the jewellery …

Natalie holds some beautiful pieces which would be perfect for a bride who wants to start creating her own legacy of timeless jewellery. Why not contact her for your consultation? Natalie is incredibly knowledgable about her collection and has researched all of the pieces on display. I just wish I was closer so that I could pop in …

Ayesha and Andrew – the story of their October wedding at The Spa Hotel

I first met Ayesha and Andrew at a wedding fair last September. When they casually mentioned that they were getting married in under three weeks of the date we met and would I like to photograph their wedding … well, I knew it would be interesting! Merging traditional and modern, they celebrated with an intimate group of family and friends at a late ceremony at this classic and timeless hotel. Take a look …

When I arrived, there was still a little bit of daylight left but sadly, by the time the ceremony had finished, the light had completely gone which scuppered our plans for some photographs in the gardens. But Ayesha and Andrew filled their time with chatting with guests and the odd photo or two.

The speeches, which were still being written during the meal (!) were lively and emotional with an entertaining best man’s speech from Andrew’s brother.

All in all, a fabulous short coverage wedding at a gorgeous location. Just such a shame that we couldn’t get out into the beautiful autumnal gardens. And, congratulations to Ayesha and Andrew on their new addition too!

Just the three of us … Teresa, Allan and Molly …

Exactly one year to the day that Teresa and Allan are getting married, down by the seaside, we decided to meet up for a cheeky little pre-wedding photoshoot. I’d already met Molly as coincidentally, we were all walking our dogs at the same time at Oare Creek so I kind of knew what to expect … and she’s bouncy, full of fun and gorgeous!

We met up again at Mote Park on a very bright day and took a little while to stroll around, and taking the time to gently guide Teresa and Allan into poses that we can use on their wedding day. It’s about feeling comfortable … and laughing. Giggling helps too … their wedding is going to be great fun, relaxed and enjoyable. I’ve no doubt about that!

But, really, if truth be told, Molly was the star of the show!

I hope that we get the same kind of amazing weather next year and I’m looking forward to capturing the fun and laughter of your celebrations!

Karen and Carl’s Newlands Chapel wedding … following in the footsteps of history!

Karen and Carl may have been my shortest lead in time to a wedding. I met them on the Thursday and then photographed their wedding on the Saturday … lovely Gail, owner of Newlands, stepped in to help this fabulous couple as their original photographer couldn’t shoot their wedding (she had a good excuse, she had just had a baby!). I was delighted to be recommended at this unusual venue and was excited to photograph Karen and Carl’s celebrations.

Newlands Chapel is steeped in history (you can read more about it here) but suffice it to say that it is the oldest building in Charing with carvings on the walls and, quite possibly, a chequered past.

Connor, Karen and Carl’s son, was one of the smiliest and confident “little best men” that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and kept the rings secured hidden in his top hat …

With guests arriving, the bride soon made her entrance with her two bridesmaids, her father and gorgeous flower girl Isla …

From a photography perspective, the Chapel isn’t the lightest of venues but luckily I was allowed to stand at the front, right behind the registrars and the light from the high-up windows cast over the couple …

Soon we were back in the open air, with welcome drinks and lots of catching up! We had time for the formal photographs and some portraits …

And were able to pop back inside for a few more shots …

And then time to make our way across to Faversham, to the Shepherd Neame brewery.

The speeches were made, along with distribution of gnomes and a quick ditty on a mouth organ (there’s always something new at every wedding I photograph …)

it was time to make shapes on the dance floor. It’s quite incredible to see children who have eaten a meal and are then gifted with so much energy … although some of the adults were joining in too!

Karen and Carl had their first dance but were quickly joined by friends and family and it was time for me to make my way back home … a delicious ten minute drive!

Thank you both so much for having me along and I very much enjoyed photographing your wedding and celebrations. I hope that you will enjoy showing your albums to your guests and that our paths will cross again in the future xx
