I was delighted to be involved in this interesting creative project – I had first met Julie years ago and have photographed her floristry sessions on a number of occasions . Julie then mentioned that she had applied for sponsorship from the Ideas Test creativepeopleplace.info with the remit that she was to introduce the concept of floristry to more than just … florists. It was called the Winter Door Project (www.thewinterdoorproject.co.uk) and I was captivated!
A series of Christmas door wreath sessions were organised and I was invited along to three – one was in Sittingbourne, one in Oare near Faversham and the other in Teynham. They were full of willow, binding wire, sharp scissors, glue guns, acorns, twigs … and chatter. Julie introduced the theory at the beginning of each session, showing different ways that the concept of a wreath could be interpreted. Not round. Not boring … the final results were quite amazing – hearts, trees, squares and, yes, some round ones!
Take a look …
You can find Julie here – based in Faversham, her classes are held in some of our beautiful local venues. Why not have a go yourself?
