Sweet baby girl and why it pays to upgrade …

I delivered Aoife’s newborn to one year photoshoot album last week. I really didn’t want to let it go … such a great quality product, filled with images chosen by mum and dad and designed by me. A real heirloom.

Harvey and Hannah – fabulous family photoshoot by Kent photographer Samantha Jones {sneak peek}

Harvey is about twelve weeks old which is quite old for a newborn photoshoot – but mum had moved house and misplaced the voucher that she had been gifted at the beginning of the year. Luckily for me, she found it, called me and two days later, I met mum, Hannah and Harvey. As they’ve only been in their house for about three weeks, things were a little displaced so we decided to make it easy rather than trying to tidy … we pulled the couch level with a large window, covered up the couch with a neutral blanket to reflect in more light, used a little bit of fill in flash mixed with the natural light … and got these shots …

A sweet brother and sister shot …

Cute, huh … as Hannah is quite the little model, I popped on a close up filter and got a great variety of shots …

After all of his effort in beginning his modelling career, Harvey nodded off …

Such a fun way to spend a couple of hours and I’m so pleased that mum put Hannah in such a gorgeously bright dress and that Harvey eventually relaxed into the session. The online gallery will be up as soon as possible but I hope that you’ve enjoyed this little sneak peek! If you have young children, you don’t need to go to the trouble of booking a studio photoshoot – I come to your home and make it as relaxed as possible. If you’d like to book a shoot, you can check out my prices here or drop me an email to sam@samanthajonesphotography.co.uk to check availability. Hope to hear from you soon!

Bright sunshine, a tea party and Matilda {sneak peek}

It’s always lovely to be asked to return to previous clients to capture some up-to-date pictures as their children grow. To return to see Matilda and her parents (and grandparents and auntie) could not have been more enjoyable. The sun shone, the cakes were ready and the tea party started … Tilly is full of life and energy. An absolute delight to photograph and looks very different from the last time that I saw her when she was one year old.

Tilly's tea party

Bright, direct sunlight, although something that we all love to see, can sometimes present challenges. So Tilly found her own place to stand for photographs …

Toddler portraits in beautiful llight

But she still led her mum and dad a merry dance around the garden!

TIlly and mum and dad

I have the most wonderful selection of images which are nearly ready to show mum and dad, although mum did mention that it’s better if I don’t show too many otherwise they really will be spoilt for choice! Here’s a final little image, against the rich blue colour of her auntie’s dress and a moment of reflection …

Tilly at two

I know that everyone has a camera and I’m sure that lots of beautiful images are captured every second but if you are looking for a photographer to capture a special moment in time with the liveliest of clients, just drop me a line sam@samanthajonesphotography.co.uk – I offer more than just prints – I offer memories that last a lifetime.

Red London Bus, bubbles, a rocking horse, a Steiff bear … and Ben {sneak peek}

How times flies. It truly does. It really doesn’t seem that long since I was photographing Ben’s parents’ wedding at Salmestone Grange. And since I met Ben for the first time when he was only eleven days old. And since he was six months … and flying. And now, to return when Ben is just over one year old … I think I may have mentioned that I love my job, I love the connections that I make and the welcome that I receive into people’s lives.

And Ben …

Ben at one year

He was so diverted with his toys that it was lovely to capture him so intensely concentrating … But not bubbles, nor laughing, nor granddad holding a reflector, not nanny cajoling, not daddy dancing like a crazy thing behind me could get Ben to really break into the beautiful, wide smiles that his mummy and daddy know that he has …

But when we all meet up again on the beach in a few months, when the weather is warmer and Ben is walking … there will be smiles. And ice cream. And happy, happy memories of a fun engagement photoshoot on the beach Good times xx

Madison at six months {sneak peek}

Since I first met Madison when she was very tiny indeed, how she has changed! It’s such a lovely thing to return and see a baby grow and develop … but as hard as we tried, we couldn’t get Madison to smile for the camera. Many photographers struggle in this respect … you can create a great rapport with a baby, and get them laughing and giggling and then put the camera up to get the shot … and the smile goes.

But I still think we got some beautiful shots which will be included in Madison’s album …

Madison at six months

Mum tried her hardest, we played with toys and I made (very) bizarre faces (thank goodness that there’s no photographic evidence of that!). But I am delighted with this following shot … being tickled by mummy is obviously one of Madison’s favourite pastimes and I love the connection between mother and baby.

What will Madison be like in six months when I return to photograph her at one year? I already know that she’s going to have a fabulous cake … if you would like to join my growing family of newborn to one year babies (or bump to babies), just check out my pricing here or drop me a line sam@samanthajonesphotography.co.uk. Hope to hear from you soon!

Curly hair and eyes so blue … {sneak peek}

I first met William when he was just a bump and then again when he was seven weeks old. And now, gorgeous mum Emma is expecting again and asked me to return for some maternity shots and to also take a few portraits of William.

Now, with children, there is a small window of time to get “the shot”. But with this engaging little boy and his amazing mop of curly blonde hair, even playing peek-a-boo lent itself to fabulous images …

See what I mean? If you have a toddler who just won’t sit still, won’t smile when you try to take a photo yourself, then why not consider booking a session with me. More details on my website www.samanthajonesphotography.co.uk or you can email me to book: sam@samanthajonesphotography.co.uk – I’d love to hear from you and start making your family memories!

Robin – newborn photoshoot at just eight days old {sneak peek}

Well, here he is! We had such a great time at Robin’s “bump” shoot (which you can see on the blog here) that I knew Robin was already a model in the making. Add into the mix his gorgeous big sister, who had to introduce me to her new baby brother and just take a look at this new addition to the family …

With the soft toy which his sister chose for him and some beautiful handknitted and wonderfully soft clothes …

And, of course, we had to include Oma and Opa who are visiting from Germany … even though Granddad had to be torn away from renovating an amazing two storey Wendy house for lucky little Heidi!

And yes, I got to practice my rusty German too! Such a lovely family and I’m already looking forward to our photoshoot at six months … online gallery will follow as soon as possible!
