Juliette and Sam … and Sam and Sam [wedding day in full]

Now that the weather has turned colder here in the UK, it’s time to start taking a look back at those gorgeously warm summer days. Juliette and Sam were married at Elvey Farm (elveyfarm.co.uk) which is situated deep in the gorgeous Kent countryside. The weather for their early September wedding stayed light and bright. It was wonderful to join this family again for a second celebration (Juliette’s sister was married two years ago  – you can see her wedding to Chris here) and so there were lots of lovely familiar faces!

Sam’s parents were just the most welcoming and were looking after arriving guests …

Not at all confusing. The groom is Sam, his best man is Sam and I’m Sam. You won’t be surprised to hear that whenever the name Sam was called, we all answered!

Juliette was shortly to arrive in the same car which transported her sister to her wedding two years before!

Juliette’s bridal gown was from the amazing Zoe at www.weddingdresskent.co.uk – Zoe has become a personal friend over the years and always looks after her brides perfectly so Juliette’s beautiful, sleek gown was always going to be the best!

Just a brief pause to recollect their thoughts …

Elvey Farm is surrounded by farmland and we were spoiled for choice for locations. We popped out for five minutes here and there throughout the afternoon, chasing great light.

The meal was enjoyed, the speeches (with embarrassing photographs) went flawlessly and time, as everyone knows, marches on and it was soon time for Juliette and Sam’s first dance.

They also had s’mores and a firepit and sparklers too!

Juliette and Sam … their gentle countryside wedding at Elvey Farm {sneak peek}

What a wonderful day … perfect weather, amazing location and a gorgeous couple.  Juliette and Sam were married at Elvey Farm. After meeting at school, they celebrated their love with their friends and family at this lovely location. For the first time in nine years of photographing wedding, this super bride and groom wanted me so much to be their photographer that they changed their date. This led to months of me worrying “what if the weather is horrible and it rains all day and they could have been married last week in the blazing sunshine on the bank holiday …” but it was fine. In fact, it could not have been better.  Their outdoor ceremony was in the grounds of the oast house on the Elvey Farm property and we had time to stroll out into the “glamping” fields situated next door. With games such as Jenga and ping pong, their guests were well entertained with Pimms and canapes to delay any hunger pangs.

It really was calm at bridal prep. As I had had the pleasure of photographing Juliette’s sister Victoria’s wedding to Chris at Boys Hall, it was like being with friends. And the fact that the groom Sam had a best man also called Sam was not at all confusing. Oh no, not in the slightest!

Juliette and her mum had been whisked over to the venue in a beautiful Rolls Royce and, as the chauffeur is a family friend, this beautiful vehicle stayed around for photographs of the couple after the ceremony.

Juliette with her grandma, Stella. Who is amazing. And smiley and lovely.

Do you see what I mean about the perfect weather? We snuck away for a few minutes during welcome drinks and it was totally worth it!

And this shot was later, when the sun was setting, after speeches. How gorgeous does Juliette look?

Special thanks must go to both Fiona (mother of the bride) and Victoria (matron of honour and bride’s sister) who helped organise, cajole, entertain and who were such a great support to Juliette during the stages of planning this wonderful day.

The nights start to draw in at this time of year and, because the skies were clear, the temperature was falling too but the marquee was cosy and the dancing energetic, led by Juliette and Sam for their first dance.

Such a fun day and I enjoyed every minute and hope that Juliette and Sam did too. The image of Sam in a green mankini handed out by best man Sam certainly got the guests talking and I am sure that celebrations last long into the night.

Congratulations to you both and I am looking forward to editing and sharing your final results.

Much love xx

A hidden gem and a sparkly couple … Juliette and Sam’s pre-wedding photoshoot

How the weather can change from one day to the next. As I sit here, writing about Juliette and Sam’s final wedding consult, it’s raining. And dark. And dull. Not so last night, when we met up at this lovely couple’s wedding venue, Elvey Farm, which is a beautiful venue nestled in the Kent countryside surrounded by farmland and amazing views.

I first met Juliette and Sam when I photographed Juliette’s sister Victoria’s wedding to Chris at Boys Hall. And what is great is that I get to see Stella, groovy grandma extraordinaire again!

Here’s a few images from our spontaneous shoot last night:

It was my first time visiting this venue and I am very much looking forward to photographing Juliette and Sam’s September wedding.  And catching up with news from the family too!

I’m glad that you both found the session helpful and I am confident that there will be lots of jaunty banter throughout your wedding day xx
