Alison and Dave and their East Quay wedding

I usually meet my brides and grooms before the day but this was an exception. I was recommended by one of Alison’s friends, Penelope, and after chatting loads on email, the deal was done and off I went to East Quay (www.eqvenue.com) for their early May wedding.

Alison is a florist and the entire venue was bedecked with beautiful flowers and displays. They also had a “sweetheart table” meaning that the new bride and groom sat on their own and didn’t have a top table. This is very popular in the States and the first time that I had seen it at a wedding that I’ve photographed.

East Quay is right on the sea … and, as a result, can often be a bit windy … and we did have the odd issue with Dave’s hair …

How cute?

The ceremony room had been set up with the guests facing the windows on to the sea which gave me some great natural light with which to work.

And Alison and Dave were married … and they laughed …

And laughed …

And were just pretty amazing!  They sped off for a quick tour in their VW Camper Van whilst I took some family and guest shots … inside, due to the wind, but the gorgeous voile with the lights behind made for  great backdrop.

The bride and groom returned from their trip and we went outside on to the beach.

The weather really was just perfect!

This is Dave’s mum. She fabulous!

As this was a short coverage wedding for me, it was nearly time to go but Alison, Dave and I popped out quickly again for a few couple shots.

And the bubbles as confetti (which was a brilliant idea) and then the new Mr and Mrs McDonald greeted their guests to be seated for their wedding breakfast.

For me, it was a fast and furious wedding and I was a little nervous not having met the bride and groom beforehand but Alison and Dave and their families and friends were so incredibly welcoming, that it was an absolute pleasure to be part of their day.  Congratulations to you both!

P.S.

As one of the recommended photographers at this seaside venue, I love photographing weddings there and know the venue extremely well. Drop me a line if you are planning your celebrations at East Quay sam@samanthajonesphotography.co.uk – hope to hear from you soon!

Signed, sealed and delivered … a main album and two parents albums in time for Christmas!

Lee and Geoff were married on a beautifully warm and sunny day in July at Whitstable Castle. I was absolutely delighted when they decided to upgrade their wedding package to include a main album and two albums for their mums which were to be gifted at Christmas.

Lee is a stickler for detail which showed throughout her wedding and also in the design process. However, with a new piece of whizzy software, we were able to draft and proof the album online which helped with the speed of delivery no end!

Here are the pages from their final album – the leather covers complemented exactly their colour scheme and I hear that the mums were absolutely delighted with their gifts!

I was so pleased with the final results and the bride and groom, more importantly, were too!

Immaculately organised and beautifully presented … Lee and Geoff at Whitstable Castle {sneak peek}

As soon as I met Lee and Geoff (and the third person in their relationship … Terry) at the East Quay wedding fair in Whitstable earlier this year, I suspected their wedding would be full of emotion and fun. I could not have been more right. Lee is the events co-ordinator at a prestigious London venue and the attention to detail at their wedding was incredible. She kept me up to date with information at each stage of their planning. Everything was in the right place … at the right time. We all knew what was expected … and Lee and Geoff delivered. Amidst forecasts of heavy thunderstorms, the weather cleared. Blue skies and white clouds came as if directed by Lee herself. Yes, it was humid. But the beautifully manicured and tended grounds at the Castle afforded their guests the opportunity to stroll around, to take time out at the beach, to enjoy canapés in the roof top terrace at the Castle. Oh it was lovely.

How do I choose a sneak peek for this lovely couple? Take a look … first, one of the best confetti shots this year!

And the gazebo allowed some beautifully soft light … and Lee was delighted that there was a match going on at the Whitstable Bowling Club so we had to ensure we captured that!

And they smiled and giggled and laughed. As we walked down to the beach, Lee and Geoff were deep in conversation. Sadly, the sunset didn’t quite match our expectations due to the impending storms but nonetheless, we took a few minutes for shots on the beach. With their favourite windmills in the background … just!

Thank you, Lee and Geoff. What more can I say? You have restored and renewed my vigour and passion for photography and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are amazing. I loved every moment and your wedding was truly a joy to capture. Thank you, thank you, thank you xxx

Peace and love – Penelope and Jonathan’s Whitstable wedding {sneak peek}

How we had wished for a warm, sunny day. But having met Penelope and Jonathan a couple of times before their wedding, I had a feeling that it wouldn’t really matter what the weather was like. It did rain and the wind did blow but the smiles and evident love that this couple have for each other cut through the dismal day. Celebrating their wedding at St Alphege’s in Whitstable and then in tipis on the beach near the Old Neptune was always going to present a challenge with the unseasonable weather that we’ve been having. But nonetheless, we did manage a couple of shots on the beach, even though it was raining at this point … all props to the bride and groom for being great fun! Here’s your sneak peek …

I hope you have a lovely few days away and let me know when you are back. In the words of the groom: “Peace and Love”!
