Vicki and Grant married at Archbishops Palace – {sneak peek}

I was introduced to Vicki and Grant by a fellow photographer who was already booked on their day and I’m so very glad that I was.  Booked six weeks before their wedding date, we met up at their reception venue, chatted, laughed and got on great.

Then three weeks before the day, their world was turned upside down. This wonderful couple showed the most amazing strength and positivity. They battled together … and won. And the tears flowed …

And rightly so – I was honoured to be a small part of your day and you reminded me once again how incredibly important my job is … and how lucky I am to do it.

Here are just a couple of images which, I think, sum up their day …

You followed direction so well and were so easy to photograph. Your families made me feel so welcome and your children are adorable.  And they can really work it … shoulders!!!

Much love to you both and looking forward to sharing your final images as soon as I possibly can xxx

And finally … here’s 2013 through my eyes …

Varied, fun, hot, tiring, exhilarating, busy … that was my 2013. Spending time with such fabulous couples on one of the most important days of their lives is amazing. I’ve shot weddings solo, I’ve second shot with other photographers but most of all, I’ve had fun. I’ve seen so many brides and grooms publicly announce their love for each other and that is pretty special.

So thank you to all of my couples who have shown me their love and commitment, their emotions to hold dear for a lifetime of memories and to embrace the fun. I’ve tried show in the images below how I feel about what I do. I’m sorry if I missed out some of your favourite images but feast your eyes …

Thank you. Thank you all. It’s been great. I hope that we won’t lose contact and that we our paths will cross again in the future. Let’s make it happen. Much love xxx

P.S. The picture of the hedgehog is for Hannah. Because when I delivered their wedding album, Hannah and Simon mentioned that the hedgehog hasn’t been seen since the day of the wedding. See how important my job is … xxx

If you want to meet me in person {upcoming wedding fairs}

Face-to-face meetings really work for me. Email is something that we can all hide behind and I love hearing about wedding plans and hopes and dreams and desires of brides-to-be.

Even if you are not quite ready to book your wedding photographer, come along, meet me in person and look at the beautiful albums and canvases that I will have on display. We can easily schedule a further meeting to discuss all of your plans for your wedding day. There is no commitment, just a chat over coffee.

To that end, I am pleased to announce that I will be standing at two wedding fairs in March as follows:

Sunday 20 March 2011 – Hadlow Manor

I will be in the preferred suppliers area at Hadlow Manor which is near Tonbridge. Entrance is free and the fair opens at 10.30am. You can find more details here). And you can see images of a photoshoot that I recently had at Hadlow Manor on a separate post on my blog here.

Sunday 27 March 2011 – The Pines Calyx

I am one of three preferred suppliers for photography at this beautiful eco-friendly wedding venue in St Margarets Bay in Dover. I am photographing a September wedding there and very much hope that the weather is as glorious as when I shot these images pictures at Pines Calyx wedding venue. You can find more details about the wedding open day by clicking here.

Is it too late to book if I am getting married in 2011?

I do have some availability remaining for 2011 but the key dates are going fast. Do contact me to find out whether I am available. 2012 bookings are going very well and I am currently taking bookings as far ahead as August.

How do I contact you?

You can email me on sam@samanthajonesphotography.co.uk, give me a call on 07786 314973 and check out my website www.samanthajonesphotography.co.uk.

Already married?

And if you are already married but fancy the idea of booking a “rock the frock” session, come and have a chat so that I can tell you more! Some examples of recent rock the frock sessions are here: rock the frock photoshoot in Surrey .

Kinga and Ian {wedding} – the story of the day

The English weather can bring some surprises … in the middle of February it felt, at times, like a late spring day. And we had some wonderful blue skies into the bargain.

Mid-February found me at Hever Castle in Kent, to photograph the wedding celebrations of Kinga and Ian (you may have seen their {sneak peek}). The day started off overcast and cloudy, but before the 3pm ceremony, the clouds broke …

Ian isn’t too comfortable with having his photo taken, but his sons, who acted as his “best men” were certainly not backwards in coming forwards, hence the “catalogue shot” here on the bridge at Hever!

And then off to the Tulip room, where Kinga was finalising her preparations …

And with her sister as bridesmaid …

and joined by her mum, dad, sister and daughter, Lily …

we were ready for the ceremony which took place within the castle … the room is dark, but we were so lucky – the sun broke through and lit up the happy couple beautifully!

After the ceremony, with readings in both English and Polish, we were guided around the castle for some wonderful photographs …

… and then into the grounds …

Everything was just perfect, the Italian garden was bathed in beautiful sunshine and we strolled around, learning some of the history of Hever Castle and the Astor family.

Then back to the castle …

for formal photographs and then into the hall for some entertainment provided by Etienne who is a personal friend of the groom!

And then the wedding breakfast, with wonderful speeches from all, including the bridesmaid and the bride! And the first traditional job as husband and wife … cutting the cake!

And then it was sadly time for me to leave … but safe in the knowledge that I witnessed a truly beautiful ceremony with a couple who are evidently very much in love! I am looking forward to seeing Kinga and Ian (and Lily) on their return to the UK and to show them all of the images from their wonderful day!

Engagement photoshoot with Bonnie and Barney {sneak peek}

That was a cold one! But Bonnie and Barney’s love for each kept them warm … along with scarves, gloves and running and jumping around on the beach! You can read their engagement story here: the cutest proposal

Here’s your sneak peek …

OK, yes, I agree, that’s not fair … feet! But Bonnie and Barney did launch themselves into the photoshoot, much to the amazement of the kayaking club who were practising rolls in the freezing waters! So here’s the cutest cuddling shot …

Both Bonnie and Barney spoke of their forthcoming wedding with such passion and excitement, that it is sure to be an amazing occasion. Your online gallery will be open soon and it was a real pleasure to spend time with you both! Speak soon??? xx

Kate and James at Great Farthingloe Barn

I had the pleasure of meeting Kate and James today at Great Farthingloe Barn and they are celebrating at this beautiful venue in April. Their enthusiasm and zest for life really came through and also the fact that they are very much in love.

James’s family has connections with the house at Great Farthingloe and we thought that might be a good place to start. Both Kate and James are a little camera shy, but that really doesn’t show in any of the photographs that I took today. The sun shone, but unfortunately the wind blew too, which made it a bit chilly! Kate braved the cold and we got some wonderful shots …
